고레스가 유다 포로 귀환을 허락하다

¹페르시아 왕 고레스가 왕위에 오른 첫 해이다. 주께서는, 예레미야를 시켜서 하신 말씀을 이루시려고, 페르시아 왕 고레스의 마음을 감동시키셨다. 고레스는 온 나라에 명령을 내리고, 그것을 다음과 같이 조서로 써서 돌렸다. Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,

²"페르시아 왕 고레스는 다음과 같이 선포한다. 하늘의 주 하나님이 나에게 이 땅에 있는 모든 나라를 주셔서 다스리게 하셨다. 또 유다에 있는 예루살렘에 그의 성전을 지으라고 명하셨다. Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

³이 나라 사람 가운데서, 하나님을 섬기는 모든 사람은 유다에 있는 예루살렘으로 올라가서, 그 곳에 계시는 하나님 곧 주 이스라엘의 하나님의 성전을 지어라. 그 백성에게 하나님이 함께 계시기를 빈다. Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.

⁴잡혀 온 하나님의 백성 가운데서, 누구든지 귀국할 때에 도움이 필요한 사람이 있으면, 그 이웃에 사는 사람은 그를 도와주어라. 은과 금과 세간과 가축을 주고, 예루살렘에 세울 하나님의 성전에 바칠 자원예물도 들려서 보내도록 하여라." And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering for the house of God that is in Jerusalem.

유다 포로가 예루살렘으로 돌아오다

⁵그 때에 유다와 베냐민 가문의 우두머리들과 제사장들과 레위 사람들과, 하나님께 감동을 받고 예루살렘으로 올라가서 주의 성전을 지으려고 하는 모든 사람이, 길을 떠날 채비를 하였다. Then rose up the chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, with all them whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem.

⁶이웃 사람들은, 자원예물 외에도 은그릇과 금과 세간과 가축과 여러 가지 진귀한 보물을 주어서, 그들을 도왔다. And all they that were about them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with beasts, and with precious things, beside all that was willingly offered.

⁷더욱이 고레스 왕은 주의 성전에 속하여 있던 여러 가지 그릇까지 꺼내어 오게 하였는데, 그것들은 느부갓네살이 예루살렘에서 가지고 가서 자기의 신전에 둔 것이다. Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the LORD , which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put them in the house of his gods;

⁸페르시아 왕 고레스는 재무관 미드르닷을 시켜, 그 그릇들을 꺼내어 낱낱이 세어서, 유다 총독 세스바살에게 넘겨 주게 하였다. Even those did Cyrus king of Persia bring forth by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and numbered them unto Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah.

⁹넘겨 준 물품은 다음과 같다. 금접시가 서른 개요, 은접시가 천 개요, 칼이 스물아홉 자루요, And this is the number of them: thirty chargers of gold, a thousand chargers of silver, nine and twenty knives,

¹⁰금대접이 서른 개요, 다른 것으로 대신 보충한 은대접이 사백열 개요, 그 밖에 다른 그릇이 천 개이니, Thirty basons of gold, silver basons of a second sort four hundred and ten, and other vessels a thousand.

¹¹금그릇과 은그릇은 모두 오천사백 개이다. 세스바살은, 포로로 잡혀 간 이들을 바빌로니아에서 예루살렘으로 데리고 올 때에, 이 그릇을 모두 가지고 왔다. All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred. All these did Sheshbazzar bring up with them of the captivity that were brought up from Babylon unto Jerusalem.
