2대언자들의 글에 기록된바, 보라, 내가 내 사자를 네 얼굴 앞에 보내노니 그가 네 앞에서 네 길을 예비하리라. As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
3광야에서 외치는 자의 소리가 있어 이르기를, 너희는 주의 길을 예비하라. 그분의 행로들을 곧게 하라, 한 것 같이 The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
4요한이 광야에서 침례를 주고 죄들의 사면을 얻게 하는 회개의 침례를 선포하매 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
5온 유대 땅과 예루살렘 사람들이 그에게 나가 자기 죄들을 자백하며 요르단 강 속에서 다 그에게 침례를 받더라. And there went out unto him all the land of Judæa, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.
6요한은 낙타털 옷을 입고 허리에 가죽 띠를 띠고 메뚜기와 들 꿀을 먹더라. And John was clothed with camel’s hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;
7그가 선포하여 이르되, 나보다 더 능력 있는 분께서 내 뒤에 오시는데 나는 몸을 굽혀 그분의 신발 끈을 풀 자격도 없노라. And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.
8참으로 나는 너희에게 물로 침례를 주었거니와 그분께서는 너희에게 성령님으로 침례를 주시리라, 하니라. I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
9그 무렵에 예수님께서 갈릴리의 나사렛으로부터 오사 요르단 속에서 요한에게 침례를 받으시고 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
10곧바로 물속에서 올라오실 때에 하늘들이 열리며 성령께서 비둘기같이 자기 위에 내려오시는 것을 보시더라. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:
11하늘로부터 한 음성이 나서 이르시되, 너는 내 사랑하는 아들이라. 내가 너를 매우 기뻐하노라, 하시니라. And there came a voice from heaven, saying , Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
13그분께서 거기서 광야에서 사십 일을 계시면서 사탄에게 시험을 받으시고 들짐승과 함께 계셨는데 천사들이 그분을 섬기더라. And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.
14이제 요한이 감옥에 갇힌 뒤에 예수님께서 갈릴리에 오셔서 하나님의 왕국의 복음을 선포하여 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15이르시되, 때가 찼고 하나님의 왕국이 가까이 왔으니 너희는 회개하고 복음을 믿으라, 하시더라. 해설 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
16이제 그분께서 갈릴리 바닷가를 거니시다가 시몬과 그의 형제 안드레가 바다에 그물 던지는 것을 보시니 그들은 어부더라. Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
17예수님께서 그들에게 이르시되, 너희는 나를 따라오라. 내가 너희를 사람들을 낚는 어부가 되게 하리라, 하시니 And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.
19그분께서 거기서 조금 더 가시다가 세베대의 아들 야고보와 그의 형제 요한을 보셨는데 그들도 배에서 자기들의 그물들을 고치고 있더라. And when he had gone a little further thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets.
20즉시 그분께서 그들을 부르시니 그들이 자기들의 아버지 세베대를 품꾼들과 함께 배에 남겨 두고 그분을 따라가니라. And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him.
21그들이 가버나움에 들어가니라. 즉시 안식일에 그분께서 회당에 들어가 가르치시매 And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.
22그들이 그분의 교리에 깜짝 놀라니 이는 그분께서 권위를 가진 자로서 그들을 가르치시고 서기관들같이 하지 아니하셨기 때문이더라. And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.
23그들의 회당에 부정한 영이 들린 사람이 있었는데 그가 소리를 지르며 And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,
24이르되, 나사렛 예수님이여, 우리를 홀로 두소서. 우리가 당신과 무슨 상관이 있나이까? 우리를 멸하러 오셨나이까? 나는 당신이 누구신 줄 아노니 하나님의 거룩하신 이시니이다, 하매 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.
25예수님께서 그를 꾸짖어 이르시되, 잠잠하고 그에게서 나오라, 하시니 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.
26그 부정한 영이 그 사람을 쥐어뜯고 큰 소리를 지르며 그에게서 나오므로 And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.
27그들이 다 놀라며 자기들끼리 물어 이르되, 이것이 무슨 일이냐? 이것이 무슨 새로운 교리냐? 그가 권위를 가지고 심지어 부정한 영들에게 명령하니 그들이 그에게 순종하는도다, 하더라. And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.
28그분의 명성이 즉시 갈릴리 주변 온 지역에 두루 널리 퍼지니라. And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.
29그들이 회당에서 나와 곧바로 야고보와 요한과 함께 시몬과 안드레의 집에 들어갔는데 And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
30시몬의 아내의 어머니가 열병으로 앓아누웠으므로 그들이 곧 그녀에 관하여 그분께 아뢰매 But Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her.
31그분께서 가셔서 그녀의 손을 잡아 그녀를 일으키시니 즉시 열병이 그녀에게서 떠나고 그녀가 그들을 섬기더라. And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.
32날이 저물어 해가 질 때에 그들이 병든 모든 자들과 마귀 들린 자들을 그분께 데려오니 And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils.
34그분께서 갖가지 질병으로 앓는 많은 자들을 고치시고 많은 마귀들을 내쫓으시되 마귀들이 자기를 알므로 그들이 말하는 것을 허락하지 아니하시니라. And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.
35새벽에 아직 날이 밝기 훨씬 전에 그분께서 일어나 나가서 외진 곳으로 떠나 거기서 기도하시더라. And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
37그분을 만나서 그분께 이르되, 모든 사람이 주를 찾나이다, 하거늘 And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.
38그분께서 그들에게 이르시되, 우리가 다음 고을들로 들어가자. 내가 거기서도 선포하리니 이런 까닭으로 내가 왔노라, 하시고 And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.
39온 갈릴리를 두루 다니시며 그들의 회당들에서 선포하시고 또 마귀들을 내쫓으시더라. And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.
40한 나병 환자가 그분께 와서 그분께 간청하며 그분께 무릎을 꿇고 그분께 이르되, 주께서 원하시면 나를 정결하게 하실 수 있나이다, 하매 And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
41예수님께서 불쌍히 여기는 마음을 가지사 손을 내밀어 그에게 대시며 그에게 이르시되, 내가 원하노니 정결할지어다, 하시니라. And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.
42그분께서 말씀하신 즉시 곧 나병이 그에게서 떠나고 그가 정결하게 되니 And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.
44그에게 이르시되, 삼가 너는 아무에게 아무 말도 하지 말고 네 길로 가서 제사장에게 네 자신을 보이고 또 네가 정결하게 되었으므로 모세가 명령한 그것들을 드려 그들에게 증거로 삼으라, 하시니라. And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
45그러나 그가 나가서 그것을 많이 알리기 시작하여 널리 퍼뜨리므로 예수님께서 다시는 드러나게 도시에 들어가지 못하고 다만 바깥의 외딴 곳에 계시니라. 그들이 사방에서 그분께 나아오더라. But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.
