28잠언 · 개역개정

¹악인은 쫓아오는 자가 없어도 도망하나 의인은 사자 같이 담대하니라 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

²나라는 죄가 있으면 주관자가 많아져도 명철과 지식 있는 사람으로 말미암아 장구하게 되느니라 For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.

³가난한 자를 학대하는 가난한 자는 곡식을 남기지 아니하는 폭우 같으니라 A poor man that oppresseth the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.

⁴율법을 버린 자는 악인을 칭찬하나 율법을 지키는 자는 악인을 대적하느니라 They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.

⁵악인은 정의를 깨닫지 못하나 여호와를 찾는 자는 모든 것을 깨닫느니라 Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things .

⁶가난하여도 성실하게 행하는 자는 부유하면서 굽게 행하는 자보다 나으니라 Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.

⁷율법을 지키는 자는 지혜로운 아들이요 음식을 탐하는 자와 사귀는 자는 아비를 욕되게 하는 자니라 Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.

⁸중한 변리로 자기 재산을 늘리는 것은 가난한 사람을 불쌍히 여기는 자를 위해 그 재산을 저축하는 것이니라 He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.

⁹사람이 귀를 돌려 율법을 듣지 아니하면 그의 기도도 가증하니라 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

¹⁰정직한 자를 악한 길로 유인하는 자는 스스로 자기 함정에 빠져도 성실한 자는 복을 받느니라 Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.

¹¹부자는 자기를 지혜롭게 여기나 가난해도 명철한 자는 자기를 살펴 아느니라 The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.

¹²의인이 득의하면 큰 영화가 있고 악인이 일어나면 사람이 숨느니라 When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.

¹³자기의 죄를 숨기는 자는 형통하지 못하나 죄를 자복하고 버리는 자는 불쌍히 여김을 받으리라 해설 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

¹⁴항상 경외하는 자는 복되거니와 마음을 완악하게 하는 자는 재앙에 빠지리라 Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.

¹⁵가난한 백성을 압제하는 악한 관원은 부르짖는 사자와 주린 곰 같으니라 As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.

¹⁶무지한 치리자는 포학을 크게 행하거니와 탐욕을 미워하는 자는 장수하리라 The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.

¹⁷사람의 피를 흘린 자는 함정으로 달려갈 것이니 그를 막지 말지니라 A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.

¹⁸성실하게 행하는 자는 구원을 받을 것이나 굽은 길로 행하는 자는 곧 넘어지리라 Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.

¹⁹자기의 토지를 경작하는 자는 먹을 것이 많으려니와 방탕을 따르는 자는 궁핍함이 많으리라 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.

²⁰충성된 자는 복이 많아도 속히 부하고자 하는 자는 형벌을 면하지 못하리라 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.

²¹사람의 낯을 보아 주는 것이 좋지 못하고 한 조각 떡으로 말미암아 사람이 범법하는 것도 그러하니라 To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress.

²²악한 눈이 있는 자는 재물을 얻기에만 급하고 빈궁이 자기에게로 임할 줄은 알지 못하느니라 He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.

²³사람을 경책하는 자는 혀로 아첨하는 자보다 나중에 더욱 사랑을 받느니라 He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.

²⁴부모의 물건을 도둑질하고서도 죄가 아니라 하는 자는 멸망 받게 하는 자의 동류니라 Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of a destroyer.

²⁵욕심이 많은 자는 다툼을 일으키나 여호와를 의지하는 자는 풍족하게 되느니라 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.

²⁶자기의 마음을 믿는 자는 미련한 자요 지혜롭게 행하는 자는 구원을 얻을 자니라 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

²⁷가난한 자를 구제하는 자는 궁핍하지 아니하려니와 못 본 체하는 자에게는 저주가 크리라 He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

²⁸악인이 일어나면 사람이 숨고 그가 멸망하면 의인이 많아지느니라 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.
