1하나님의 뜻으로 말미암아 예수 그리스도의 사도가 된 바울과 우리 형제 디모데는 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother,
2골로새에서 그리스도 안에 있는 성도들과 신실한 형제들에게 편지하노니 하나님 우리 아버지와 주 예수 그리스도로부터 은혜와 평강이 너희에게 있기를 원하노라. To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3우리가 너희를 위하여 항상 기도하며 하나님 곧 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 아버지께 감사를 드림은 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
4그리스도 예수님을 믿는 너희의 믿음과 모든 성도들에게 너희가 베푸는 사랑을 우리가 들었기 때문이요, Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,
5또 너희를 위하여 하늘에 쌓아 둔 소망으로 인함이니 이 소망은 너희가 전에 복음의 진리의 말씀 안에서 들은 것이라. For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
6이 복음이 온 세상에 있는 것 같이 너희에게 이르렀으며 너희가 그것을 듣고 진리 안에서 하나님의 은혜를 안 그 날부터 너희 안에서도 열매를 맺는 것 같이 열매를 맺는도다. Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it , and knew the grace of God in truth:
7또한 너희가 우리의 사랑하는 동료 종 에바브라에게 배웠는데 그는 너희를 위한 그리스도의 신실한 사역자요, As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;
8또한 성령 안에서 너희의 사랑을 우리에게 밝히 알려 준 자니라. Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit.
9이런 까닭에 우리도 그것을 듣던 날부터 너희를 위해 기도하기를 그치지 아니하고 또 너희가 모든 지혜와 영적 깨달음에서 그분의 뜻을 아는 것으로 채워지며 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it , do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
10주께 합당하게 걸어 모든 일에서 그분을 기쁘게 하고 모든 선한 일에서 열매를 맺으며 하나님을 아는 것에서 자라나고 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
11그분의 영광스러운 권능에 따라 모든 강력으로 강건하게 되며 기쁨으로 모든 인내와 오래 참음에 이르고 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
12우리를 빛 가운데서 성도들의 상속 유업에 참여하는 자가 되기에 합당하게 하신 아버지께 감사드리기를 원하였노라. Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13그분께서 우리를 어둠의 권능에서 건져 내사 자신의 사랑하는 아들의 왕국으로 옮기셨으니 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14그분 안에서 우리가 그분의 피를 통해 구속 곧 죄들의 용서를 받았도다. In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15그분께서는 보이지 아니하는 하나님의 형상이시요 모든 창조물의 처음 난 자이시니 해설 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16이는 그분에 의해 모든 것이 창조되었기 때문이라. 하늘에 있는 것들과 땅에 있는 것들, 보이는 것들과 보이지 아니하는 것들 곧 왕좌들이나 통치들이나 정사들이나 권능들이나 모든 것이 그분에 의해 창조되고 그분을 위하여 창조되었노라. For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17또 그분께서는 모든 것보다 먼저 계시고 모든 것은 그분으로 말미암아 존재하느니라. And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
18그분께서는 몸 곧 교회의 머리시니라. 그분께서 시작이시요 죽은 자들로부터 처음 난 자이시니 이것은 그분께서 모든 것에서 으뜸이 되려 하심이라. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
19아버지께서는 그분 안에 모든 충만이 거하는 것을 기뻐하시고 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
20그분의 십자가의 피를 통해 화평을 이루사 그분으로 말미암아 모든 것들이 즉 내가 말하노니 그분으로 말미암아 땅에 있는 것들이나 하늘에 있는 것들이 자신과 화해하게 하셨느니라. And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say , whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
21한 때는 너희가 사악한 행위들로 인해 멀리 떨어져 너희 생각 속에서 원수가 되었으나 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
22이제는 그분께서 죽음을 통해 자기 육체의 몸으로 화해를 이루사 너희를 그분의 눈앞에서 거룩하고 흠 없고 책망할 것이 없는 자로 제시하려 하셨으니 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
23만일 너희가 믿음 안에 거하여 터를 다지고 정착해서 너희가 들은 복음의 소망에서 떠나지 아니하면 그리하시리라. 그 복음이 하늘 아래 있는 모든 창조물에게 선포되었으며 나 바울은 그 복음의 사역자가 되었노라. If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
24나는 이제 너희를 위해 내가 고난당하는 것을 기뻐하고 그리스도의 고난들 뒤에 있는 것을 그분의 몸 곧 교회를 위해 내 육체 안에 채우노라. Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church:
25내가 교회의 사역자가 된 것은 너희를 위해 내게 주신 하나님의 경륜에 따라 하나님의 말씀을 성취하려 함이니라. Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;
26이것은 곧 여러 시대와 여러 세대로부터 감추어졌으나 이제는 그분의 성도들에게 드러난 신비에 관한 것이라. Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
27하나님께서는 이방인들 가운데서 이 신비의 영광의 풍성함이 무엇인지 자신의 성도들에게 알리려 하시는데 이 신비는 너희 안에 계신 그리스도 곧 영광의 소망이시니라. To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
28우리가 그분을 선포하며 각 사람에게 경고하고 모든 지혜로 각 사람을 가르침은 우리가 각 사람을 그리스도 예수님 안에서 완전한 자로 드리고자 함이니라. Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
29이 일을 위해 나도 내 속에서 강력하게 일하시는 그분의 활동에 따라 싸우며 수고하노라. Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.
