애굽이 유다를 치다(왕상 14:25-28)

1르호보암의 나라가 견고하고 세력이 강해지매 그가 여호와의 율법을 버리니 온 이스라엘이 본받은지라 And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the LORD , and all Israel with him.
2그들이 여호와께 범죄하였으므로 르호보암 왕 제오년에 애굽 왕 시삭이 예루살렘을 치러 올라오니 And it came to pass, that in the fifth year of king Rehoboam Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had transgressed against the LORD ,
3그에게 병거가 천이백 대요 마병이 육만 명이며 애굽에서 그와 함께 온 백성 곧 리비아와 숙과 구스 사람이 헤아릴 수 없이 많더라 With twelve hundred chariots, and threescore thousand horsemen: and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt; the Lubims, the Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.
4시삭이 유다의 견고한 성읍들을 빼앗고 예루살렘에 이르니 And he took the fenced cities which pertained to Judah, and came to Jerusalem.
5그 때에 유다 방백들이 시삭의 일로 예루살렘에 모였는지라 선지자 스마야가 르호보암과 방백들에게 나아와 이르되 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시기를 너희가 나를 버렸으므로 나도 너희를 버려 시삭의 손에 넘겼노라 하셨다 한지라 Then came Shemaiah the prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus saith the LORD , Ye have forsaken me, and therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.
6이에 이스라엘 방백들과 왕이 스스로 겸비하여 이르되 여호와는 의로우시다 하매 Whereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The LORD is righteous.
7여호와께서 그들이 스스로 겸비함을 보신지라 여호와의 말씀이 스마야에게 임하여 이르시되 그들이 스스로 겸비하였으니 내가 멸하지 아니하고 저희를 조금 구원하여 나의 노를 시삭의 손을 통하여 예루살렘에 쏟지 아니하리라 And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.
8그러나 그들이 시삭의 종이 되어 나를 섬기는 것과 세상 나라들을 섬기는 것이 어떠한지 알게 되리라 하셨더라 Nevertheless they shall be his servants; that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.
9애굽 왕 시삭이 올라와서 예루살렘을 치고 여호와의 전 보물과 왕궁의 보물을 모두 빼앗고 솔로몬이 만든 금 방패도 빼앗은지라 So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD , and the treasures of the king’s house; he took all: he carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.
10르호보암 왕이 그 대신에 놋으로 방패를 만들어 궁문을 지키는 경호 책임자들의 손에 맡기매 Instead of which king Rehoboam made shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard, that kept the entrance of the king’s house.
11왕이 여호와의 전에 들어갈 때마다 경호하는 자가 그 방패를 들고 갔다가 경호실로 도로 가져갔더라 And when the king entered into the house of the LORD , the guard came and fetched them, and brought them again into the guard chamber.
12르호보암이 스스로 겸비하였고 유다에 선한 일도 있으므로 여호와께서 노를 돌이키사 다 멸하지 아니하셨더라 And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him, that he would not destroy him altogether: and also in Judah things went well.

르호보암이 죽다

13르호보암 왕은 예루살렘에서 스스로 세력을 굳게 하여 다스리니라 르호보암이 왕위에 오를 때에 나이가 사십일 세라 예루살렘 곧 여호와께서 이스라엘의 모든 지파 중에서 택하여 그의 이름을 두신 성에서 십칠 년 동안 다스리니라 르호보암의 어머니의 이름은 나아마요 암몬 여인이더라 So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother’s name was Naamah an Ammonitess.
14르호보암이 악을 행하였으니 이는 그가 여호와를 구하는 마음을 굳게 하지 아니함이었더라 And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the LORD .
15르호보암의 처음부터 끝까지의 행적은 선지자 스마야와 선견자 잇도의 족보책에 기록되지 아니하였느냐 르호보암과 여로보암 사이에 항상 전쟁이 있으니라 Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the book of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the seer concerning genealogies? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.
16르호보암이 그의 조상들과 함께 누우매 다윗 성에 장사되고 그의 아들 아비야가 그를 대신하여 왕이 되니라 And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.
