솔로몬이 지혜를 구하다(대하 1:3-12)

1솔로몬이 애굽의 왕 바로와 더불어 혼인 관계를 맺어 그의 딸을 맞이하고 다윗 성에 데려다가 두고 자기의 왕궁과 여호와의 성전과 예루살렘 주위의 성의 공사가 끝나기를 기다리니라 And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh’s daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD , and the wall of Jerusalem round about.
2그 때까지 여호와의 이름을 위하여 성전을 아직 건축하지 아니하였으므로 백성들이 산당에서 제사하며 Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the LORD , until those days.
3솔로몬이 여호와를 사랑하고 그의 아버지 다윗의 법도를 행하였으나 산당에서 제사하며 분향하더라 And Solomon loved the LORD , walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.
4이에 왕이 제사하러 기브온으로 가니 거기는 산당이 큼이라 솔로몬이 그 제단에 일천 번제를 드렸더니 And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.
5기브온에서 밤에 여호와께서 솔로몬의 꿈에 나타나시니라 하나님이 이르시되 내가 네게 무엇을 줄꼬 너는 구하라 In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.
6솔로몬이 이르되 주의 종 내 아버지 다윗이 성실과 공의와 정직한 마음으로 주와 함께 주 앞에서 행하므로 주께서 그에게 큰 은혜를 베푸셨고 주께서 또 그를 위하여 이 큰 은혜를 항상 주사 오늘과 같이 그의 자리에 앉을 아들을 그에게 주셨나이다 And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
7나의 하나님 여호와여 주께서 종으로 종의 아버지 다윗을 대신하여 왕이 되게 하셨사오나 종은 작은 아이라 출입할 줄을 알지 못하고 And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.
8주께서 택하신 백성 가운데 있나이다 그들은 큰 백성이라 수효가 많아서 셀 수도 없고 기록할 수도 없사오니 And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.
9누가 주의 이 많은 백성을 재판할 수 있사오리이까 듣는 마음을 종에게 주사 주의 백성을 재판하여 선악을 분별하게 하옵소서 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
10솔로몬이 이것을 구하매 그 말씀이 주의 마음에 든지라 And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.
11이에 하나님이 그에게 이르시되 네가 이것을 구하도다 자기를 위하여 장수하기를 구하지 아니하며 부도 구하지 아니하며 자기 원수의 생명을 멸하기도 구하지 아니하고 오직 송사를 듣고 분별하는 지혜를 구하였으니 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;
12내가 네 말대로 하여 네게 지혜롭고 총명한 마음을 주노니 네 앞에도 너와 같은 자가 없었거니와 네 뒤에도 너와 같은 자가 일어남이 없으리라 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.
13내가 또 네가 구하지 아니한 부귀와 영광도 네게 주노니 네 평생에 왕들 중에 너와 같은 자가 없을 것이라 And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.
14네가 만일 네 아버지 다윗이 행함 같이 내 길로 행하며 내 법도와 명령을 지키면 내가 또 네 날을 길게 하리라 And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.
15솔로몬이 깨어 보니 꿈이더라 이에 예루살렘에 이르러 여호와의 언약궤 앞에 서서 번제와 감사의 제물을 드리고 모든 신하들을 위하여 잔치하였더라 And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD , and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.

솔로몬의 재판

16그 때에 창기 두 여자가 왕에게 와서 그 앞에 서며 Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.
17한 여자는 말하되 내 주여 나와 이 여자가 한집에서 사는데 내가 그와 함께 집에 있으며 해산하였더니 And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.
18내가 해산한 지 사흘 만에 이 여자도 해산하고 우리가 함께 있었고 우리 둘 외에는 집에 다른 사람이 없었나이다 And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.
19그런데 밤에 저 여자가 그의 아들 위에 누우므로 그의 아들이 죽으니 And this woman’s child died in the night; because she overlaid it.
20그가 밤중에 일어나서 이 여종 내가 잠든 사이에 내 아들을 내 곁에서 가져다가 자기의 품에 누이고 자기의 죽은 아들을 내 품에 뉘었나이다 And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.
21아침에 내가 내 아들을 젖 먹이려고 일어나 본즉 죽었기로 내가 아침에 자세히 보니 내가 낳은 아들이 아니더이다 하매 And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.
22다른 여자는 이르되 아니라 산 것은 내 아들이요 죽은 것은 네 아들이라 하고 이 여자는 이르되 아니라 죽은 것이 네 아들이요 산 것이 내 아들이라 하며 왕 앞에서 그와 같이 쟁론하는지라 And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king.
23왕이 이르되 이 여자는 말하기를 산 것은 내 아들이요 죽은 것은 네 아들이라 하고 저 여자는 말하기를 아니라 죽은 것이 네 아들이요 산 것이 내 아들이라 하는도다 하고 Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living.
24또 이르되 칼을 내게로 가져오라 하니 칼을 왕 앞으로 가져온지라 And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.
25왕이 이르되 산 아이를 둘로 나누어 반은 이 여자에게 주고 반은 저 여자에게 주라 And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.
26그 산 아들의 어머니 되는 여자가 그 아들을 위하여 마음이 불붙는 것 같아서 왕께 아뢰어 청하건대 내 주여 산 아이를 그에게 주시고 아무쪼록 죽이지 마옵소서 하되 다른 여자는 말하기를 내 것도 되게 말고 네 것도 되게 말고 나누게 하라 하는지라 Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it .
27왕이 대답하여 이르되 산 아이를 저 여자에게 주고 결코 죽이지 말라 저가 그의 어머니이니라 하매 Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.
28온 이스라엘이 왕이 심리하여 판결함을 듣고 왕을 두려워하였으니 이는 하나님의 지혜가 그의 속에 있어 판결함을 봄이더라 And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.
