1나의 기운이 쇠하였으며 나의 날이 다하였고 무덤이 나를 위하여 준비되었구나My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are ready for me.
2나를 조롱하는 자들이 나와 함께 있으므로 내 눈이 그들의 충동함을 항상 보는구나Are there not mockers with me? and doth not mine eye continue in their provocation?
3청하건대 나에게 담보물을 주소서 나의 손을 잡아 줄 자가 누구리이까Lay down now, put me in a surety with thee; who is he that will strike hands with me?
4주께서 그들의 마음을 가리어 깨닫지 못하게 하셨사오니 그들을 높이지 마소서For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: therefore shalt thou not exalt them .
5보상을 얻으려고 친구를 비난하는 자는 그의 자손들의 눈이 멀게 되리라He that speaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail.
6하나님이 나를 백성의 속담거리가 되게 하시니 그들이 내 얼굴에 침을 뱉는구나He hath made me also a byword of the people; and aforetime I was as a tabret.
7내 눈은 근심 때문에 어두워지고 나의 온 지체는 그림자 같구나Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members are as a shadow.
8정직한 자는 이로 말미암아 놀라고 죄 없는 자는 경건하지 못한 자 때문에 분을 내나니Upright men shall be astonied at this, and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite.
9그러므로 의인은 그 길을 꾸준히 가고 손이 깨끗한 자는 점점 힘을 얻느니라The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.
10너희는 모두 다시 올지니라 내가 너희 중에서 지혜자를 찾을 수 없느니라But as for you all, do ye return, and come now: for I cannot find one wise man among you.
11나의 날이 지나갔고 내 계획, 내 마음의 소원이 다 끊어졌구나My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart.
12그들은 밤으로 낮을 삼고 빛 앞에서 어둠이 가깝다 하는구나They change the night into day: the light is short because of darkness.
13내가 스올이 내 집이 되기를 희망하여 내 침상을 흑암에 펴놓으매If I wait, the grave is mine house: I have made my bed in the darkness.
14무덤에게 너는 내 아버지라, 구더기에게 너는 내 어머니, 내 자매라 할지라도I have said to corruption, Thou art my father: to the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister.
15나의 희망이 어디 있으며 나의 희망을 누가 보겠느냐And where is now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it?
16우리가 흙 속에서 쉴 때에는 희망이 스올의 문으로 내려갈 뿐이니라They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when our rest together is in the dust.
